Krispy Kreme is up ~50% in the past week and become a meme stock. Have no idea if it’s a good investment but do know that its manufacturing process is impressive. They sell 2B+ donuts a year and designed equipment that can crank out 3,000 donuts an hour: ▫️Extruder uses proprietary process of pressurized hot air to form ring-shaped donuts without cutting a hole (donuts are shaped as such for even cooking) ▫️The proofer area has a special conveyor system and heating process for exact temperature and humidity ▫️Custom Siemens control ensures conveyor belt fryer is constant speed and glazing hose pump has same flow rate for consistency (I repeat: “glazing hose pump has same flow rate”) ▫️The conveyor belt is made of special stainless steel mesh that can withstand heat, corrosive sugars and abrasive oils Krispy Kreme also had to design the system for the in-store theatre viewing. Obviously not the healthiest things in the world but some legit engineering decisions and designs were made. *** Full 3D animation from Jared Owen (amazing channel): Food Engineering:
