The existence of God can be rationally established, but proving the *particular* God of any given creed is a much tougher task. And yet God must be particular, must be specific, to enter into our very particular and specific lives as individuals It is impossible for me to accept the factuality of Christ's resurrection. But I have faith anyway, which is impossible to explain to an atheist. To some extent the impossibility is the point I don't think I could be sincerely Christian, personally, if I hadn't experienced transcendent moments of communion with the divine, despite those moments not being distinctly Christian except in giving me a felt sense of the beginning of John's Gospel
