Well that strategy makes no sense whatsoever because obviously republicans are going to win the presidency for 2028 so they would have to wait until at least 2032. The dems are just going to run a throwaway candidate for 2028. Newsom is too old guard plus there is no center left to win as polarization in the populace continues. AOC isn’t smart enough and the left populists haven’t won the dem civil war yet to be able to take control of the DNC and hence fundraising. Mamdani isn’t ripe yet and similar issues as AOC with the DNC. Shapiro, like Newsom, is too centrist and old guard but with less name recognition. Buttigieg, same as those two but also he already had his chance and the dems don’t want to risk running a previous loser. On top of that, all of them would get slaughtered by Vance in the debates and the podcast circuit. The left needs at least one more cycle to brew.
