As we get closer to @monad_xyz mainnet and the time to mint NFTs arrives, let’s have an honest conversation about the NFT scene on Monad. Right now, Monad hosts over 100 NFT collections—with different art style and teams and many of them are genuinely great. I love the teams, the art, and the passion. But here's the big question: how many of these NFTs will actually mint out? Looking at the current landscape, I’d say probably no more than 20 projects will fully mint. And it's not because the others aren’t good or the teams aren't solid. The problem is deeper: there's just not enough audience or liquidity on the chain right now. Here’s what I mean. Most Monad NFT collections are targeting the same pool of users. If you dig a little deeper, you’ll notice that around 20% of whitelist spots across projects go to the same group of people. That’s a huge risk. It creates overlap, fatigue, and pressure on that small group to carry the entire ecosystem. Now picture this mainnet scenario: Let’s say Sasha—a community member—has guaranteed mints (GTD) for 20 different NFT projects. If each mint costs around $35, that’s $700 out of Sasha’s pocket. That’s not a small number for many. Even if Sasha is a true Monad supporter and willing to mint them all to back the teams, how long do you think he’ll hold these NFTs before selling some to recover part of his funds? And Sasha isn’t alone. We’ve got plenty of monad enjoyer in this exact situation: long-term holders, willing to support, but also needing to recoup costs. That creates a big question mark over floor prices—and over how many of those mints will actually happen. Now imagine Sasha only has the budget to mint 10 out of the 20 projects he has GTD for. What happens to the other 10 collections? They don’t mint out—not because they’re bad, but because there is no enough audience. This is a serious issue. And if teams don’t act, the scenario above is exactly what we’ll see play out. The solution? Projects need to start thinking beyond Monad. Reach out to new audiences—Solana NFT degens, ETH OGs, and NFT enjoyers from other chains. Every collection needs its own unique community, not the exact same group of people people as every other project. #Monad #MonadTestnet #NFTs #NFTSales
