ACROSS & SUCCINCT
Why Do We Need Bridges?
In the crypto world, moving assets between chains has always been a challenge.
When we tried to be fast, we sacrificed security. When we focused on safety, costs went up.
Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, BNB Chain...
Each is its own ecosystem. But sometimes, we need to move our assets from one chain to another.
That’s where cross-chain bridges come in.
But it’s not as simple as it sounds.
Every new chain requires custom code, audits, and integration.
Across took an important step to solve this.
They partnered with Succinct to upgrade their infrastructure and finally bring balance to speed, cost, and security.
What Does This Partnership Bring?
Across already offered fast and cheap bridging.
Now, these transfers are secured with Succinct’s ZK proof technology.
That means they’re not just fast they’re also provably correct.
My Test Transfer Real User Experience
While writing this article, I wanted to see if @AcrossProtocol is really that fast and cheap.
Here’s the result of the transfer I made:
✅ Bridged 0.002 ETH
🔁 From Base to Arbitrum
⏱️ Duration: Only 1 second
💸 Cost: Just $0.01
📅 Date: July 3, 2025, 10:28
Verdict? Impressive.
A smooth and almost free transfer like this felt AMAZING.
Across in Numbers
$22B+ total volume
15M+ transactions
Avg. transfer time: under 1 minute
Bridge cost for 1 ETH: under $1
How Does This System Work?
Let’s explain with a simple example:
You’re on Arbitrum and want to send USDC to Base.
You say “I want to send USDC.”
A relayer steps in and performs the needed transaction on Base.
That action gets recorded on Ethereum.
Succinct generates a ZK proof for this action.
Other chains accept it.
Everyone agrees on the same truth.
What Does Succinct Do?
@SuccinctLabs verifies that the transaction really happened using ZK technology.
They use an open source verifier stack called SP1.
Thanks to this, there’s no need to build separate systems for each chain.
Think of it like a passport:
Just like a passport issued by one country is accepted in others,
Succinct provides the "passport" of trust. Across is the bridge that lets you travel.
Final verdict?
I think it’s impressive.
A near zero fee and a flawless transfer it felt GREAT.
To be honest, cross chain bridging has never felt this easy and secure.
So, is using a bridge risky?
My answer is clear:
With the right infrastructure, it’s just a matter of seconds.
