Axial Seamount, een gigantische vulkaan 300 mijl uit de kust van Oregon en 4.500 voet onder water, vertoont tekenen van leven.
Wetenschappers verwachten dat het ergens in 2025 zal uitbarsten, maar benadrukken dat er geen gevaar is voor mensen.
De vulkaan barstte voor het laatst uit in 2015 en groeit weer, waarbij magma gestaag stijgt.
De aardbevingsactiviteit is echter vertraagd en experts zeggen dat er niets op het punt staat te ontploffen.
Vulkanoloog Bill Chadwick grapt dat uitbarstingen dol zijn op slechte timing - hij gaat voor drie weken naar Guam.
Axial is stil voor nu. Toch blijven de ogen in het diepe.

The good news?
This undersea monster 300 miles off the coast won't cause tsunamis or devastation like its 2022 Tongan cousin.
The bad news? It's still going to blow, likely before 2026.
Researchers say the volcano's surface has swollen to 95% of its "I'm about to explode" threshold - which is scientist-speak for "something interesting is about to happen half a mile underwater."
