Yes, this is real: Google is integrating @SelfProtocol into two existing products, and launching a new one that's uniquely enabled by Self Here’s what’s happening 🧵

Self is the only production-ready zkPassport protocol live today It’s fully audited by @zksecurityXYZ and lets you prove you're a real human, and optionally other facts about yourself, without handing over personal info to a third party

Google is using Self in three ways:

1. First up is their Web3 AI product. Think Gemini, but with full chain state awareness across major blockchains These things are expensive to run and come with strict rate limits With Self, real humans will be able to prove that they are not a bot and skip the rate limits

2. Next is their Testnet Faucet These are constantly targeted by bots. Self will let users prove they’re unique, in a privacy-preserving way, when requesting testnet tokens

3. And this one is brand new. Google is launching a first of its kind Mainnet Faucet The faucet will lets users request small amounts of mainnet tokens. Self helps with both sybil resistance and OFAC screening, all while keeping users’ data private
