Can some legacy investment bankers chime in on this… If $PUMP raised $500 mln dollars in 12 minutes at a fraction of the cost of an IPO or private financing round, doesn’t that undermine the entire profession? This is coming from an equity & derivs trader that has seen his industry commoditized by algorithms and pricing power of my salary obliterated relative to the past. Could we actually just be watching the natural evolution of public money (fiat monopoly) to private money again? This movement has been the norm in history. Investment bankers are not only screwed by this technological ICO efficiency improvement and smart contracts but they are also screwed with the AI productivity boom being able to price things way more efficiently. The two year private equity & banking stint after college could be obsolete! Ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee…
