Republican Rep. Ralph Warren Norman Jr. of South Carolina has introduced a bill to award Tim Kennedy, a Green Beret and MMA Fighter who recently public admitted to lying about his military service and being awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Valor, as well as several other individuals the Congressional Gold Medal, the oldest and highest civilian award in the United States, for their involvement in the 2021 Evacuation of Afghanistan, which led to the safe evacuation of over 17,000 people from Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.
