Most art / fashion nowadays has been about the need to challenge the assumptions of beauty. I totally get it when it was first done - it was super transgressive and fresh - but like it’s been decades of this on repeat, and it’s been nothing but uninspiring and boring. At this point it’s edgy to actually challenge the assumption that the challenging of the assumptions of beauty is necessary. Which is why when I saw the latest Dolce & Gabanna Alta Moda 2025 collection in Rome, it just really took my breath away. It’s pure Romanesque and Biblical elegance with armored corsets, great draping and jewelry fit for a goddess. Makes you really weep with joy. And the good news?
