I understand that some crypto OGs may be upset about how framing ETH against BTC in mainstream media is gaining momentum. This is not bad for the industry, it is not disingenuous, and it was inevitable as Ethereum’s vision began to materialize and became too big to ignore. Please take a moment to understand this: 1. BTC maxis' have framed Bitcoin against Ethereum for years, and have been consistently wrong about every single development on ETH. What we are seeing is, in great part, simply Ethereans pushing back. 2. Ether is officially a digital commodity. It is also a store of value and it's starting to get formally recognized as such. Investors DESERVE to know exactly how it compares against BTC. They deserve to hear the bull case for ETH as a SoV from ETH bulls, not just the bear case from BTC maxis who have parroted half-truths and misinformation about it for years. 3. When Ethereum was launched, there were many valid arguments in favor of BTC as a SoV. The dynamics have changed, and those arguments are no longer true. Some have even flipped. Not going to list them all now, but I'll be happy to do it if you contest this. 4. BTC maxis' narratives have only prevailed because they had years to parrot their nonsense on mainstream media, mostly uncontested. 5. ETH bulls couldn't break through because of regulatory uncertainty and the social consensus that formed around BTC maxis who monopolized airtime. 6. Contrasting ETH against BTC became taboo because ETH evolved and gradually became a superior SoV, while BTC failed to evolve. Its scaling framework failed, it has not built DeFi network effects, onchain adoption is migrating offchain to ETFs and other TradFi derivatives, demand for onchain activity has plateaued and is in decline, even in the midst of a bull market, and the overreliance on issuance subsidies remains. 7. Talking about all of this has been perceived as dissing or talking down on BTC, and by association, all the other finance guys and analysts who backed BTC for years, but these are just the facts and investors deserve to be well informed. 8. Ethereum is the internet of finance, not Bitcoin, and it will become bigger than "digital gold". Deal with it.
