Blockchain scaling is about scaling network effects, not just throughput or TPS. For a single state machine/chain, more throughput = more network effects. For a cluster of chains, better interoperability = more network effects.

Interview of a recovering Eth maxi at a Solana conference. My answer at 0:57 is worth noting: Scaling blobs (& rollups) was the right direction technologically but ended up fragmenting Ethereum as an ecosystem. Blockchain scaling is ultimately about scaling network effects, not just TPS or throughput.
