Ethereum's next upgrade, Fusaka, is on track for mainnet in early November, just before Devconnect. But one major change didn’t make the cut: EIP-7907 (contract code size increase) was officially removed due to unresolved complexity and timeline risk. Here’s what happened, and what’s next 👇
/ After two weeks of stable testing, client teams are moving full steam ahead with Devnet-3. The Fusaka spec is now nearly final, but developers made a tough call: During ACDE #216 call they removed EIP-7907, which would have increased the max contract size beyond 24 KB, after pushback from multiple teams.
/ The debate over EIP-7907 was so intense: ➜ Some argued it’s just a “2-line change”. ➜ Others flagged last-minute complexity. ➜ Besu called for a hard spec freeze there. ➜ Arbitrum proposed a simpler +50% bump. ➜ Eventually, teams agreed to defer it to Glamsterdam.
/ Fusaka is targeting mainnet activation between Nov 5–12. So, the rollout plan includes: ➜ Devnet-3 launch on July 23. ➜ Two successful public testnets. ➜ Early bug bounties. ➜ Holesky upgrade as a stress test. ➜ Strict 30+30 day rollout schedule.
/ Fusaka is getting closer. And with it, another chapter in Ethereum’s story is about to begin. Are you excited, guys? Source:
