as a thought experiment, i tried to imagine the worst business: i think it’s grocery stores. thin margins, competitors on every block, zero pricing power, high overhead, perishable inventory rotting in real time, tons of SKUs, and workplace politics/unions. truly the final boss of capitalism. no wonder yeltsin was shocked by the concept.
