Super excited to announce that Portal has been acquired by the Monad Foundation! This represents a massive step for Portal and for stablecoin payments around the world.

Portal will continue to operate independently as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Monad Foundation and support its customers. I'll also be stepping in as Head of Payments & Stablecoins to help accelerate the stablecoin and payments adoption for the Monad Ecosystem. Some thoughts on our journey 👇

When we first started Portal, we were inspired by the question on "why can't money move at the speed of the internet?" We were convinced that open source blockchains will serve as the new settlement layer of the internet and have billions of users onboard to help solve this very question.

However, at the same time we saw how raw the experience was with all the UX issues, transaction fees, and more and built the stack to help lower the barrier of entry for developers and enterprises to build with blockchains.

During our journey at Portal, we saw builders from LATAM, Africa, and beyond build stablecoin first use cases and believed deeply that stablecoins would be the catalyst to realize our mission to bring billion users onchain.

The spark with the Monad Foundation - we spent many months with Monad Foundation jamming on stablecoins and payment landscape and quickly realized that together we can move even faster to realize this vision.

As we dug underneath the hood, we also noticed that Monad was truly end-game EVM architecture by truly building a highly scalable system from the ground up that can live up to become the settlement layer of the internet.

I'm so excited for this new chapter and looking forward to taking things to the next level! Thank you to all of our investors, customers, and early believers. This chapter would not be possible without you!
