robinhood doesn't want to use a general-purpose chain because they can't control the security model.
they need guarantees that their users won't get rekt by some defi exploit or bridge hack that they had nothing to do with

Reality is, as we’ve seen with Robinhood and every other corporate who’s entered the space, they don’t want nor are they served by having a general purpose chain as their execution environment if they expect to do more then just issue assets.
This has been obvious for awhile despite the desire to kid ourselves that general purpose chains serve the needs of regulated businesses. Expect we’ll continue to see more of this.
