𝑩𝒊𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝑳𝒖𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒂: 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝑶𝒏𝒆 The first stage of Biome Lumina has been revealed... and it deserves to be celebrated. Even if you're not a fan, I challenge you to read on 🧵 . . . What we’re seeing today is the visual/auditory layer, the atmospheric wrapper of the NFT. Still to come: 👉🏾 The live data feeds that will shape and shift the dynamic work over time on the DATALAND platform. 👉🏾 The unlocking of membership perks across various tiers. For those paying attention, it’s clear that @refikanadol’s work has always been iterative, each piece a step toward a far more ambitious vision. Many dismissed earlier works as “just fluid sims,” missing the forest for the trees (literally and metaphorically). If you’ve listened to Refik speak in interviews, TED talks, or lectures, you’ll know his long-term pursuit is about reinterpreting data, creating new ways of seeing and forging emotional resonance through that process. Back in March, @punk6529 said something that stirred resentment at the time: “𝑅𝑒𝑓𝑖𝑘 𝐴𝑛𝑎𝑑𝑜𝑙 𝑖𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑚𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑎𝑚𝑏𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑢𝑠 𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑖𝑠𝑡 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑝𝑎𝑐𝑒.” It rubbed some the wrong way... I get it... people often view praise through a zero sum lens. Point to note... Celebrating Refik’s ambition doesn’t diminish anyone else’s. In fact, I believe the opposite. A rising tide lifts all boats. We’re incredibly lucky to live in a moment where artists like Refik, Jack Butcher, 113, Sam Spratt, ACK and many others are each pushing boundaries in their own distinct ways. Ambition is contextual. It’s not about comparing outputs, but about the scale of vision relative to where one starts. Personally, I’ve come to appreciate Refik’s work even more as I’ve taken the time to understand his nuances and the grand arc of what he and his team are trying to build. So yes... I celebrate this stage of Biome Lumina’s reveal. Unapologetically. Not at the expense of others. But because we need to get better at acknowledging excellence... even when it’s not “ourbags”. 🥂 (Sound on)
